Reed embarks on new career

Former Kamloops Track and Field Club member Gary Reed, a two-time Olympian and silver medalist at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics, announced his retirement at a Toronto press conference on Monday, Dec. 13.
Following his retirement from track, Reed plans to pursue his second love — real estate.
Having earned a real-estate licence in Vancouver, he will develop city properties and also plans to donate three per cent of his salary to an organization he founded in support of young Olympic hopefuls.
“I realize what 100 bucks can do in the pocket of a really struggling athlete,” Reed said.
“It means you can continue for that extra month or two. It’s huge.”
